1.Description:
The determination of the scratch resistance of coatings is very similar to the scratch test of coatings, but this test method uses arc-shaped (annular or circular annular) scratch needles to measure the scratch resistance of a single coating of colored paint, varnish or related products, or the surface coating of a composite coating: the test product or system is applied to a flat test plate with a uniform surface texture at a uniform thickness. After drying/curing, the scratch resistance is determined by pushing a test plate under an arc-shaped (annular or circular) scratch needle. The scratch needle is installed and pressed down at a 45° Angle onto the surface of the test plate. The load acting on the test plate is continuously increased until the coating is scratched. The load that causes coating scratches in at least two of the five measurements is taken as the minimum load for coating scratches.
As the main drafting unit of the standard GB/T 31591-2015 "Determination of Scratch Resistance of Paints and varnishes", Biaogeda Company has developed instruments that comply with this standard. After a large number of verification tests by many scientific research units, it is unanimously recognized as having very high reproducibility and comparability. This instrument is the first of its kind in China.
